The U.S. Coast Guard will close the Corpus Christi Ship Channel to all marine traffic at 8 a.m. Sunday, July 7. However, the Coast Guard has granted special permission for the Texas Department of Transportation’s Port Aransas ferry system to operate until noon Sunday, at which time ferry operations will be suspended.

TxDOT stands ready to immediately resume operation of the Port Aransas ferry system as soon as the Coast Guard reopens the ship channel. However, at noon Sunday, the ferry system will be closed to the public until further notice.

The Port Aransas mayor has issued a mandatory order for all visitors to evacuate the city of Port Aransas by noon Sunday.

Until the ferry system reopens to the public, access to and from Port Aransas will be via SH 361 from Corpus Christi.
