The Children’s Advocacy Center of the Coastal Bend (CACCB) is excited to announce its Pinwheels Family Fun Day to be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, from 9 a.m. to noon at Cole Park Amphitheater. The ninth annual event is free and open to the public.
“Last year was our first Family Fun Day theme and we had such a positive response from the community,” said Program Director Emma Sais. “Family Fun Day will continue to build a safe and welcoming environment for children, give families an opportunity to visit with the CACCB and our partner agencies and learn about many other resources offered for children in our city.”
There will be games and activities, door prizes, information and free food (while supplies last). In addition, there will be youth performances by the Ray Tex-Anns from W.B. Ray High School, Cinderella School of Dance, Ballet Folklorico Viva Mexico de Corpus Christi, the Gildea School of Dance Irish Dancers, Matt Rodd, Kaymoni Guerrero and more.
A total of 1,667 pinwheels will be displayed to represent the number of children the CACCB forensically interviewed in 2018 due to allegations of physical and/or sexual abuse and neglect.
A proclamation declaring the date as “Pinwheels Family Fun Day 2019” will also be read.
The goal of Pinwheels Family Fun Day is to provide a safe, child-friendly environment uniting families, our partners agencies (Corpus Christi Police Department, Driscoll Children’s Hospital, Department of Family and Protective Services) and other organizations/non-profits who serve and/or provide beneficial programs to children in our community. Around 350 people are anticipated to attend.
Sponsors-to-date include Pepsi Cola, Sunrise Vending, Everest Water & Coffee; Kona Ice; Wienerschnitzel; H-E-B; and John DeMontel of DeMontel Financial Services.
