EYE ON TROPICAL WEATHER

Here's a reminder that it's hurricane season. The National Hurricane Center yesterday maintained high odds that a tropical depression will form in the Gulf of Mexico this week and could very well become a hurricane by next week.

Forecasters say there’s an 80 percent chance of development over the next five days, and that a tropical depression will “likely” form by the end of the week.

If that happened it would be the second tropical system in the Atlantic so far this hurricane season, which officially began June 1.
