Creator Of Green Bean Casserole Has Passed

You’ve probably never heard of Dorcas Reilly, but chances are, you’re really familiar with her work. She’s the woman who created a true Thanksgiving classic: green bean casserole. The creamy, crunchy dish has been gracing tables as long as we can remember, but she's the one who came up with it for the Campbell’s Soup Company back in 1955 and it’s been a hit ever since.

It can't be overstated how important Dorcas is to American culinary history. In fact, the original recipe card was donated to the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2002. "Dorcas was an incredible woman, whose legacy will live on for years to come," Campbell's said in a statement. "She will be missed by her Campbell colleagues and all those who were impacted by her creativity and generous spirit."

Reilly passed away back on October 15th from Alzheimer’s disease. She was 92. So when you’re dining on your turkey dinner this Thanksgiving, have a bite of her iconic green bean casserole in honor of its creator. And to see the classic recipe, CLICK HERE.
