Bamas Blog: Yeah, more car stuff

1966 was a interesting year for Plymouth. They were number 4 in sales and had tried to come up with a few cars to compete with Ford and Chevy. They had designed the Barracuda ‘Glassback” to compete with the Mustang but it didn’t do that well. Ford also was having huge success with the LTD and Chevy had a hit with the Caprice. So Plymouth introduced the Belvedere. The standard engine was the 318 and I had several 318s in my life. Great engine and one of my favorites. But for the top performance, you could get the Belvedere Satellite with a 426 cubic inch Hemi engine. Available in hardtop or convertible, it had 425 horsepower and great ride. Weighing around 3400 pounds, this car would really scream. You could also get this car with the 440 cubic inch engine and that would be plenty fast without the tuning issues of the Hemi. Make mine a Red Hardtop, of course, and White interior.
