Bamas Blog: Let’s start out with my first pick

Let’s start out with my first pick of 1964 with a Mercury. The 64 Comet Caliente. They started building the Comets in 1060 through 1967. They were very popular and Mercury built on this platform …1963 was the first year for a convertible. It also got a Continental type grille in it’s total restyle. They were finally getting some love from Mercury for 1964. ‘Every bit as hot as it looks” was their theme that year. The sports model for that year had bucket seats, 4 speed or auto, a 289 cubic inch engine that produced 271 horsepower in a light car for about 3 grand. Make mine read of course and 4 speed and I’m all over it. I’ve seen 2 in my lifetime. Just cool little cars and still fairly affordable for our hobby. Probably around 30 grand for a 4 speed car.
