Bama's Blog: 1957 and 1958 were good years for Plymouth

1957 and 1958 were good years for Plymouth sales. They were in a solid 3rd place and one of the reasons was the Plymouth Fury. They had their top line model called the Golden Commando with a 317 cubic inch engine. They came in 2 door only. The book and movie car in ”Christine” was a 58 Fury. However, the book and movie version was a Red. These cars only came in Beige and with Gold trim. Also, they had a push button on the dash “ Torqueflite” automatic transmission, which was pretty cool. You could get them with a 3speed manual but that had the shifter on the column. They could do the quarter mile in 16 seconds which, at the time, was pretty quick. 3 grand and 3500 pounds, not a bad car for the money. They sold 5300 of the Golden Commandos in 1958.
