10 years ago, the father of Bethany and Hannah Goralski of Chicago received a kidney transplant. That transplant saved his life and allowed Bethany and Hannah to have their father in their lives for another decade.
Well, Bethany and Hannah’s father recently passed away -- and the sisters wanted to honor his memory, so they stepped up to become organ donors themselves.
One day apart, Bethany and Hannah both underwent surgeries that would result in a kidney being donated to a stranger. Amazingly, their donations set off a chain reaction, with friends and family members of recipients paying it forward and undergoing the donation surgery themselves.
After it was all over, 10 people struggling with kidney failure were helped, thanks to the sacrifice of donors – which all started with Bethany and Hannah, and their desire to pay tribute to their dad.
