C'mon Get Happy: Walmart Cashier Who Walked MILES to Work Gifted a Car!

A cashier who worked at Walmart in Slidell, Louisiana, walked several miles to work each way each day. She would leave her house at 4:30 AM every morning to make her 7:00 AM shift. One morning about 5:30 AM, Officer Brad Peck, of the local police, was ending his shift, when he saw Anita Singleton, the cashier, walking on a bridge that crossed over railroad tracks. It is apparently a dangerous bridge--so the officer turned around and went back to talk to the woman. The 52 year old said she was walking to her job at Walmart. The officer noted that it was a long way away--and he would give her a ride. (It turns out she was walking 9 miles to work every day!)

They chatted all the way there about families and Jesus and the officer's 2 year old--and life in general. The officer dropped Ms. Singleton off at the Walmart. Officer Peck made a post about the experience on Facebook, about how much his day was made by driving her to Walmart and getting to chat with her.

Then---it went viral!

Matt Bowers, the owner of the local Chevrolet dealership heard about Ms. Singleton, and said to someone--if someone can track her down...he would give her something to drive. The officer went to pick her up at Walmart, and instead of driving her home, he drove her to the Matt Bowers Chevy Dealership. The dealer let Ms. Singleton choose between two vehicles. The video is AWESOME!!
