Well,my son is 15 and has needed glasses for about 5 years. He had fought me at every turn:
'I don't need glasses!'
'People will make fun of how I look!'
'I can see fine!'
'I do not want to mess up this handsome look--for the girls.'
Finally, I told him that he had to get glasses, or I was going to take away the iPad. Well...I said the magic words--and suddenly, he was amenable to the idea of getting glasses.
Special thanks to Dr. Julie Gorn for taking such great care with B. She was so patient and explained everything that she was going to do--it was wonderful to watch. Of course, after so many years of worrying about how much he needed glasses--and how long he fought me on it--I was sure the exam was going to be a trial. Dr. Gorn was fantastic. B did great, and left so happy and positive after his experience. Thank you, Dr. Gorn!!
