C'mon Get Happy: Family Dog Found After Five Years Missing!

This is the story of Lady. Lady is a dachshund that the Rindeau family found on a family trip back in 2001. Lady quickly became a part of the family. The 5 and 7 year old kids loved Lady. Fast forward to 2013. Lady is older and going blind and hard of hearing. She went missing from the Rindeau's house--which is bordered by a forest. The family thought a wild animal had gotten Lady.

Well, last week, a police officer in Norwich, Connecticut (about 20 miles from where the Rindeaus live) saw an older dachshund that she assumed was abandoned. The officer took the dog to the local animal shelter, in hopes of finding her owners. Lady did have an ID chip. However, it was from many years ago--and the phone number attached to Lady's chip reached Mr. Rindeau's former employer. The former employer took the time to track down Mr. Rindeau, and let him know about the call from the animal shelter.

The Rindeau family immediately contacted the animal shelter to go get Lady and reunite her with her family! They are all so happy. Mr. Rindeau says he's happy Lady is back--and hopes she will like the grandkids.
