A newly-opened bridal store in North Carolina was damaged by flooding, which caused problems for both the owner and the store's customers.
The owner, Allison Drake, was surrounded by ruined dresses and knew she was going to have to rebuild her business somehow, some way.
This rebuilding took a big step forward when 81-year-old former dress shop owner Margarette Powell heard about the tragedy, stepped up and donated a bunch of dresses to Allison.
Margarette was inspired to act because she grew up in an area that was also affected by flooding and saw first hand just how much damage could be done.
Margarette drove to Allison’s store and delivered eight dresses – worth thousands of dollars – she had been saving since closing her own boutique nearly three years ago.
This was a great relief to Allison because she was in desperate need of the dresses. Thanks to the gift, Allison has been able to stay in business and continue to serve her customers during all the cleanup efforts.
