Our puppy arrived this weekend--and it was like a baby arriving in the house! Feeding schedules, potty training, worrying about his food, and keeping him from danger and getting hurt! I have not done the baby thing in 17+ years, as I just had my real baby graduate high school this month. This little guy is Bigby. He is named for a wizard in Dungeons & Dragons, which we thought would be fun. Our first name choices came from the game, Mass Effect, but they did not win out ..maybe for Bigby's siblings. He is a Mini Australian Shepherd, and so stinking cute I cannot even stand it. I think that is what nature does--it reminded me of when I had my children. They tinkle on you and spit-up on you and keep you up and night and you just do not even care, because you are in love with their little faces. God made puppies adorable for the same reason!!
Chris and I made the rounds like new parents--to the pet stores to buy all the stuff! We have a crate and toys and immune builder and poop bags and even a little Pittsburgh Steelers collar (you'd expect nothing less, right?) Now comes the starter training--getting him to potty outdoors, and not to cry too much when he is in the crate/bed at night. We are a couple nights in and he is doing okay. If I yawn on the radio--chalk it up to being a new (puppy) mom!
