Rescued A Classic

Saturday I got a text from a daughter-in-law from an old friend we lost last year. W.E. was a really good old guy who I had known for 20 years. He was a Vietnam vet and like to tinker with old trucks and cars and really anything mechanical. He could fix anything and did a lot of lawnmowers for all the folks around our small town of Dripping Springs, Texas. He had an old 64 Chevy truck that was abandoned in his front yard and I tried to buy it several times. He never would budge on it. "I'm gonna fix it up one day" was his same reply. His daughter-in-law texted me Saturday. The city was about to fine her for the truck still sitting in the yard. She lives in Indiana so she contacted me and I sent my wrecker bud over and I met him at W.E.'s house (the family still owns it but it's vacant) and he loaded it up and we took it to my shop yard. I don't know what's gonna happen with it. They may keep it or I might buy it. Either way, it didn't go to a crusher and will hopefully live to drive another day! I think W.E. would like that. RIP brother.
