Great Movies to Watch With Mom--Not Just a Meh List from Some Website...

Any website can list movies with Mom in the title, but I am going to steer you toward movies that will surprise you--they may not be the ones you expect for Mother's Day! Yeah, you could watch Mother's Day--but it is not a good movie--it is a bummer. Go with my list--some of them are a little emotional, but they are good movies that pack a punch that will definitely give you lots to discuss.

The Family Stone with Diane Keaton, Craig T. Nelson, Sarah Jessica Parker, Luke Wilson and lots more. So good...

Steel Magnolias--a CLASSIC!! Sally Field, Dolly Parton, Shirley MacLaine, Darryl Hannah, and of course, Julia Roberts.

Terms of Endearment--bring your tissues--this one packs a wallop, but there is no other mother-daughter story like it. Debra Winger and Shirley MacLaine have an up and down relationship--it also stars Jeff Daniels and Jack Nicholson. Wow.

The Blind Side--I know it has gotten some negative press recently, but I LOVE Sandra Bullock in this one--and Tim MacGraw is fantastic, too.

Postcards from the Edge--Shirley MacLaine plays Debbie Reynolds to Meryl Streep's Carrie Fisher character in this sometimes bumpy ride--but ultimately really good memoir movie.

If you and your mom can laugh at raunchy humor, then This is 40, the sequel to the 40 Year Old Virgin, is very, very funny and real--and goes through a LOT of family stuff.

Last, but not least...

The Sound of Music--how can we forget Maria Von Trapp--she started as their nanny and ended up as their mother, singing them all the way through the Alps and to safety away from the Nazis.

Have a wonderful day with mom--and if you can't be with her--you can both sign onto whatever streaming service you have, and watch a movie together from afar!! Happy Mother's Day!
