Apollo Astronaut Michael Collins

Apollo 11 Astronaut Michael Collins passed away yesterday at 90. When I was 12 years old, the space program captured all of us kid's imaginations. We all watched the takeoff and landings, of course.. We built models and the only A+ I ever got was a book report on space exploration. I wrote NASA and they sent me all kinds of info on the Apollo 11 mission and and the other missions as well. I went to Washington D.C. after they got back and saw the moon rocks in a glass case at the Smithsonian Air and Space museum. I just stood there staring and looking up at the Spirit of St.Louis and the Wright Brothers plane thinking how far we had come in such a short time. This is still an incredible place to visit. Collins actually ended up being in charge of this museum later. All 3 of these guys were heroes and always will be. Thank you Michael Collins for your bravery. RIP.
