My Dad Was The Greatest

My dad was a really great guy. He worked hard for us and traveled a lot but weekends were all about my mom and brother and me. He made all the games, all the scout meetings and still would spend time with both of us doing stuff we wanted to do. Hunt and fish with my brother. Car stuff with me.This came up in my mind over the weekend as I watched the NASCAR race from Talladega, Alabama. My dad would take me to the stock car races and to the Friday night races in Birmingham where we lived. I don't think he even liked cars that much. But he did it and acted like it was the greatest thing ever no matter what we did. That's what made him the greatest. He's been gone now thirteen years. What I wouldn't give to go back and have just one more day with him.
