Dash Cam: Should I or Shouldn’t I?

Dash cam videos are all over YouTube. My husband and I watch them all the time. Watching people and their sometimes I’ll-advised driving choices is endlessly entertaining. There are lots of channels out there. I prefer to watch the near-misses and minor wrecks. I don’t want to see traffic carnage or bad wrecks where people are injured—just things that make me—shall we say, pucker a bit.
You know all those insurance ads where they promise to attach some sort of gizmo to your car and it will track your driving style, methods, speed, whether you ever tailgate, probably if you ever honk (guilty), and whether the company deems you ‘safe’. When I see those ads, I just laugh. I know my rates would go up.
I am thinking that a dash cam would have a similar impact—only it would be my husband looking at the footage, which would likely be worse! He’d be able to see when and if I get lost (way too often), if I speed, if I tailgate or generally drive poorly in his opinion. That is a non-starter, as far as I am concerned. We are definitely going to have to find something new to watch on YouTube!!
