Netflix is giving theaters a run for their money—with blockbusters premiering in your living room. My husband and I usually catch the upcoming movies feature on YouTube—and couldn’t wait for Army of the Dead. It was epic! It took place in Las Vegas—it was a giant heist movie with a great cast, zombies, an undead tiger (!), and Elvis tunes in the soundtrack. What a shocker to hear it was just going to be available on May 21st on Netflix—we didn’t have to pay a premium like on Disney+ or anything. Awesome!
We watched the movie this weekend. It was all you’d expect. LOTS of gore and headshots—as in lots of zombies being shot in the head. There was the noob who’d never shot and killed zombies (Dieter) who ended up enjoying it, a double cross or two, and did I mention LOTS of gore?
If you’ve watched any of the Walking Dead, you can handle it. If you loved Aliens, an adept critic recognized a lot of similarities in the plot. It’s a lot of zombi-rific, movie popcorn fun. We enjoyed it.
Our grade: B+.
