Our radio station is located in Penn Field here in Austin, Texas. The building we are in is a series of buildings built back during WW1 and this whole complex was an Army Air Corp base and airstrip. We are now really in the middle of Austin proper on Congress Ave, that runs directly into the capitol. It's hard to imagine that much space available in this area to have an airstrip. We are elevated from downtown quite a bit so I guess at that time it made sense. Our radio station (KVET and all the IHeart stations) are located in once was a WW1 airplane hangar. For the last 20 years I have walked in this building and I still notice architecture that was used back then that is beautiful. The front of the building is all light colored bricks built in a series of arches and the outside of this building and all of the buildings is this same brick. Inside is large wooden beams supporting the huge ceilings.and they have this awesome patina that just looks so cool. This is a great building. History combined with beauty.
