Flying In An Open Cockpit

Stearman Bi-planes are just so beautiful (double wing and double seat) and they are still plentiful throughout the country. It is a plane that goes back to WW2 as a trainer for the Army pilots so they had to be very strong and sturdy as they went thru some pretty rough landings. I had the opportunity to fly in one years ago. It belonged to the Red Baron pizza company as a promotional plane. The pilot was from Round Rock and was a listener when he was a kid. He took me up and it is an open cockpit plane with a windscreen. I wore a cap and goggles like in the old days. Also had a parachute. He says over the two way radio "Do you want to do some aerobatics?" and of course I said yes. We did a loop at 2000 feet and a roll and a climb and stall called a Hammer Head. It was such an incredible feeling. I plan to ride in another one some day.
