Two brothers, Mike and Nick Fiorito quit their jobs in NYC, after realizing they were quite unfulfilled. They started collecting and handing out blankets to homeless people in the city. Nick's fifth grade teacher saw a news story about the young men and their charitable efforts--she wrote and asked how she could get her fifth grade students involved. The brothers started a charity called Blankets of Hope. (https://blanketsofhope.com/) The charity collects blankets, and then sends them to schools, where the students involved write personal notes to attach to each blanket. Then the kids deliver the blankets to their local homeless shelter. This past winter, the charity gave out more than 20,000 blankets with personal notes.
