This is an amazing story!! Between 1942 and 1945, 97-year-old Edwin Boger served overseas in World War II. Some time while he was serving, he lost his identification tag – known as a dog tag. He had no idea when or where. He just knew they were lost.
So, imagine his surprise when he picked up his mail earlier this year and found that someone had sent him his old dog tag.
About five years ago, a man named Kenneth Muo was digging a hole for a school flag pole inPapua New Guineaand, sure enough, he unearthed Edwin’s dirty, rusted dog tag. It took him a while to track Edwin down, but finally did it, making sure this piece of memorabilia was returned to its rightful owner.
It was a surprise for Edwin to see his long-lost dog tag, who was happy that Kenneth took the time to track him down and send the package.
But getting the package to Edwin was also important to Kenneth, who was able to fulfill a promise he made to himself – and honor Edwin for the sacrifices he made so many decades ago.
