C'mon Get Happy: Uber Driver Changes the Life of a Vet Who Got a Ride Home

An Uber driver who picked up an elderly man from the hospital has stepped in (with friends) to improve his life. Lauren Mulville picked up an 89 year old man named Ronald, when he was discharged from the hospital. She expected him to be greeted by family when they got back to his home, but found that he lived alone with a dog--all his remaining family members had passed away.

His home was in bad shape. It had fallen into disrepair and needed a deep cleaning. Ronald had not contacted anyone for help as he was afraid they would make him move into a home--and stop living independently. Lauren the Uber driver made a post on Facebook asking for people to volunteer to help clean up his place.

Since she created the Facebook group, it has grown to over 800 people. People have volunteered to help clean the house, make repairs, stock the refrigerator, and feed the volunteers. So far all the cosmetic work has been done--including replacing the carpet and old, busted furniture. Now the repairs are starting--including an expert to handle a mold problem.

Ronald is so thankful to have a cleaned up home--and to get to continue to live independently--all because of a compassionate Uber driver!
