This story comes from South Brunswick, NJ. Carter Bruynell is a little boy who has Autism. He loves to skateboard, but gets really anxious around big groups of older kids. His mom took him to the skate park to celebrate his birthday. They got there kind of early to avoid the bigger kids. Then Gavin Mabes and his middle school friends showed up. Carter's mom was ready swoop in and her son out of there--but she didn't need to! Gavin led the way--and got his friends to include little Carter--and spent time teaching him how to skate. When he succeeded--there were high fives all around. When Carter fell down, Gavin and his friends were there to scoop him up and encourage him.
Carter had a GREAT birthday--and there is video and everything!!
The local police department heard about the great group of kids and decided to reward them for their kindness with a pizza party at school.
The cool thing is--Gavin and Carter have STAYED friends. Watch the video--with Kleenex!
