The long Thanksgiving weekend was extra special for Harold and Tina Ehrenberg of Mandeville, Louisiana, as the holiday party they hosted led to them winning a million-dollar jackpot.
Last week, they were cleaning up their home to get ready for family members visiting from out of town. During that housecleaning, Tina found a few old lottery tickets on the nightstand.
She and Harold checked the numbers online and – sure enough – one was a big winner, worth $1.8 million.
And, they discovered this ticket within days of it expiring. Had they waited until December 2nd, it would have been worthless and they would have been out of luck.
While they don’t have any plans to buy anything crazy with the winnings, they definitely are thankful to have the extra money – and thankful that they didn’t go out of town for the holidays.
