Amanda Vega is a single mom in Kyle. She has two sons in elementary school. She was struck by how much it costs for each kid's back-to-school supply list, so she decided to do something about it. She has been gathering up coupons and looking for deals, and has amassed enough school supplies to help out about 130 other children.
Amanda has turned her living room into an assembly line for school supplies. She got her friends to help with couponing, shopping, and assembling the school supplies. She says she has everything but the backpacks.
How did she find the families to bless with these school supplies? She posted on Facebook, offering to buy supplies for other single mothers. She was inspired by her own memories of being a single mom and having to scrape together the money for her kids' supplies. This Saturday, there will be a back to school get-together at Gregg Clarke Park where the supplies will be distributed.
