C'mon Get Happy: NFL Player Donates Salary!

Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long does a lot of great things on the field, but he's getting a lot of attention and praise for what he's doing off the field.

The 10-year veteran and native of Charlottesville, Virginia, announced that he is donating his first six game checks of the season to send two kids from the Boys & Girls Clubs to the St. Anne’s-Belfield School – a private boarding school in Virginia and Long's alma mater.

He said in a statement, "In August, we watched people fill our hometown streets with hatred and bigotry. Megan [Long’s wife] and I decided to try to combat those actions with our own positive investment in our community."

He added, "We want these scholarships to be reflective of what the community is really about – supporting one another, social equality and building up those in our community who need it."

Long has been one of the NFL's most charitable players over the past few years. In 2015 he created the Chris Long Foundation, which has raised money for many causes around the world including clean water, homelessness, military veterans and troubled youth. Chris Long is the son of Hall of Famer, Howie Long.
