Earlier this year in Maine, a 77-year-old man named Hal won a $2 million jackpot in the state lottery. Despite taking home $1.4 million after taxes, Hal has continued to play the lottery for fun.
Recently, he was inspired to play a certain set of numbers and was so certain he would win that he bought 56 tickets, all with the same numbers. Sure enough, those numbers hit and he was a winner again. Each ticket was worth $420.
However, Hal chose not to cash those tickets in. Instead, he visited his favorite restaurant, Lori’s Diner, and handed them to each of the employees. He then passed more out to strangers at gas stations and grocery stores, making lottery winners out of everyone he met.
