When life gave seven-year-old Isabella Nerstad lemons she and Greta, her four-year-old sister, made lemonade. The sisters, from Knoxville, Tennessee, set up a lemonade stand to raise money for lung cancer research.
Their mother, Amanda, who was diagnosed stage-four lung cancer in October, says she asked her daughters what they'd like to do this summer and they said they wanted to have a fun lemonade stand with music and activities. The sisters said they wanted to donate all of the money they raised to the LUNGevity Foundation.
The girls hoped they would raise $100 from the lemonade, but instead their lemonade stand raised $3,000. They got another $1,200 in online donations which brought the total amount of money raised to $4,469.
Amanda says they wrote a check to the LUNGevity Foundation and already received a thank you letter.
