Some Austin Police officers are going far beyond the call of duty to help out a veteran with his yard. APD has started a program called Assist-a-Veteran, which they're working to expand to assist more veterans in the community.
This week they cleaned up the yard of US Air Force Veteran Roosevelt Farmer, who spent most of his life sacrificing for others.
The disabled veteran lives alone, and he says taking care of household chores is not an easy task. But despite his health problems, Farmer remains grateful for the extra help, honoring his service. APD plans to keep doing these good deeds in our community.
