Country singer Cole Swindell has revealed that his mother, Betty Carol Rainey, passed away on Monday (September 13) on Instagram. Snapping a picture of his flight back to Georgia, the "You Should Be Here" singer said, that he "Took this on the flight home to Georgia this afternoon. Lost my sweet Mom today. I know she's up there. Gonna miss her so much. Love y'all."
Swindell's father had unexpectedly passed away eight years before. The country singer frequently shared during interviews that he and his mother were close. The post he shared can be viewed here. Further details regarding his mother's passing have not yet been revealed.
"She's the one that keeps me humble," Swindell said in a 2019 interview with PopCulture.com about his mom. "She's the one that, no matter how stressed out I get, if I wanna be here or wanna be there, she is always the first person to remind me, 'Come on, Cole. Think about it. Me and you would have never thought you'd be where you are right now.' I always say that, but I mean it because it takes someone like her to put it all in perspective."
Swindell is currently been busy opening up for Thomas Rhett on The Center Point Road Tour. The tour is scheduled to wrap up in mid-October in Raliegh, North Carolina. The singer had previously teased earlier this month that he'll have new music coming out sometime soon. The new release will follow Swindell's 2020 track, "Single Saturday Night," which wound up being certified Gold by the RIAA.
The singer also recalled earlier this year his first concert. Swindell revealed that he saw Randy Travis with his grandparents, with the singer going on to eventually join Travis on Warner Brothers and become label mates. "The fact that I'm on Warner Brothers and he's a labelmate of mine is just even cooler that he was the first artist that I ever saw live, and now I'm on the same label as him," Swindell said.
