The Texas Gulf Coast could see some major weather within the next week.
There are three "tropical disturbances" currently in the Atlantic Ocean. There is an 80% chance that the disturbance closest to the country could develop into a storm within the next five days, the National Hurricane Center predicted on Wednesday.
The disturbance is out near the the Caribbean Sea so it's too early to predict where it will go if it enters the Gulf of Mexico.
While there is no guarantee that a hurricane or even a single rain cloud will form, the National Weather Service is recommending that people review their hurricane/severe weather preparedness plans.
“Also, please stay weather aware over the coming days as the forecast evolves," the NWS told the Houston Chronicle.
The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30. There have been eight named storms so far, but they have avoided the Gulf Coast. Tropical Storm Henri drenched northeastern states earlier this week.
