Meghan Markle's Mom Gives Update On Her Daughter: Report

Doria Ragland is remaining optimistic amid the fallout of her daughter Meghan Markle and son-in-law Prince Harry's decision to take a "step back" from their royal duties.

According to People, the social worker and yoga instructor — who spent the holidays with Meghan, Harry, and their son, Archie, in Vancouver in the weeks leading up to the couple’s shocking announcement — is among the group of family and friends supporting the Duke and Duchess during this transition period as they embark on their “next chapter.”

Doria “says Meghan is strong and will always be okay,” a source who occasionally crosses paths with Ragland told the mag.

As Royal fans know, the couple has been under intense public scrutiny since they announced earlier this month that they intend to "step back as ‘senior’ members of the Royal Family and work to become financially independent." The couple additionally revealed that they plan to "balance" their time between the United Kingdom and North America to create a "geographic balance" for their son and to launch a "new charitable entity."

The unprecedented move shocked the world, including Harry's family, who hinted at their surprise in Buckingham Palace's official statement in response to his announcement.

Queen Elizabeth II broke her silence on Meghan and Harry's shocking decision on Monday (January 13), releasing a statement following the Sandringham Summit, which was attended by Prince Charles, Prince William and Prince Harry.

"Today my family had very constructive discussions on the future of my grandson and his family," the Queen's statement began. "My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan's desire to create a new life as a young family. Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family."

"Harry and Meghan have made clear that they do not want to be reliant on public funds in their new lives," Queen Elizabeth continued. "It has therefore been agreed that there will be a period of transition in which the Sussexes will spend time in Canada and the UK. These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done, but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days."
