Dolly Parton’s Brother Dies At 61

Dolly Parton’s brother, Floyd Estel Parton has died at the age of 61. 

According to the obituary posted by Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville, Tennessee, Parton passed away on Thursday, December 6th. 

Known by his family as a “renaissance man” and a “man of many talents,” he was also involved in the music industry. “He was an avid outdoorsman and had an abundant knowledge of nature as well as being an incredible cook,” states the obituary. “Floyd was a talented songwriter and composer. Two of his most famous songs were Rockin’ Years, recorded by Dolly Parton and Ricky Van Shelton and Nickels and Dimes, recorded by Dolly Parton and later by George Burns.”

Floyd’s family celebrated his life with a private service and have asked those mourning to donate to Tennessee’s My People Senior Activity Center in place of flowers.
