C'mon Get Happy: NFL Player Saves the Day!!

Of all the ways to spend the NFL off-season, Christian McCaffrey of the Carolina Panthers never thought he'd be saving a man's life. The running back was hiking with his brothers and some friends in Colorado when he saw an older man fall off a cliff and plunge 20 feet onto a rock. McCaffrey and and his group sprung into action to rescue the 72-year-old, who was out hiking with his 13-year-old grandson.

They climbed down to him and called 911. While waiting for emergency responders, they performed chest compressions and CPR when he stopped breathing.  Paramedics arrived minutes later and were able to transport the man to the hospital. He suffered a broken neck, leg and pelvis, suffered internal bleeding in his brain and fractured some ribs. He was listed in critical but stable condition.

McCaffrey says, "[It was] truly a blessing that we turned the corner at that exact moment and we could be there for him. I don't know what would have happened ... We were lucky to be at the right place at the right time."  McCaffrey visited the man the next day in the hospital and has stayed in touch with the family.
