Dolly Parton has been married to husband Carl Thomas Dean for over 52 years, and she’s sharing some of her secrets to a long and happy marriage, although as usual, Dolly is far from serious.
“I always joke and laugh when people ask me what’s the key to my long marriage and lasting love,” Dolly tells “People.” “I always say ‘Stay gone!’ and there’s a lot of truth to that. I travel a lot, but we really enjoy each other when we’re together and the little things we do.”
Dolly says when she’s not working she and Dean enjoy simple things like going on picnics, taking trips in their “little camper,” or going to dinner at their favorite local spots. She notes, “We know a few little places we can go without being bothered. He only likes to go places where he can be comfortable!”
And although Dolly is always one who loves to get dressed up, with her hubby she doesn’t have to. “He doesn’t care what I wear as long as I’m happy,” she says. “He loves me the way I am.”
