Police in the North San Fernando Valley have been searching for a road rage killer identified by his intense green eyes.

Luis Alberto Gutierrez, Jr., 24, known on the street as 'green eyes,' has been charged with killing another motorist on Laurel Canyon Blvd. July 13.

LAPD Det. Juan Santa says witnesses were able to describe the gunman's car, a gray Dodge Challenger, and all remembered the man's green eyes.

"The green eyes really stood out, it was the very first thing that witnesses described to us," Santa said.

Once the killer's description, car, and some security video was made public, Santa said investigators got a tip from Gutierrez's employer.

"Suspect's boss came forward, and told us that, coincidentally, he had an employee with green eyes, he never showed up for work on the day of this incident," he said.

That eventually led police to identify Gutierrez, who has ties to gangs and family in North Hollywood and Sun Valley.

The Dodge was found abandoned but Gutierrez has vanished, possibly to Mexico.

Santa said the victim, 22-year-old Richard Ruiz, had never met Gutierrez and appears to have been targeted at random.
